Sonarqube license when migrating to a new VM

Hi,

Currently we’re running Sonarqube Developer Edition 10.6 in our prod.
We currently have two open topics -

  1. We want to migrate our Sonarqube instance to another host by switching the IP from our old Infra to new Infra. How does this work considering the license will be revoked if something like happens - reference
  2. We’re also setting up a new test instance. How does our existing licensing work if we want to setup test instance with the same license?

Hi,

Your link goes to the 9.6 docs. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like those docs have changed much in the latest version.

And what they convey is that your license key will be invalidated if you move your database, not if you move your SonarQube server.

For your test instance, you’ll need a new license.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. Then it shouldn’t interfere with our Prod setup.

Regarding the test system setup - We’re setting up for our test system at the moment and don’t have the license yet.

Do we get the license for test system inclusive with a Developer version? or do we need to buy a new one?

Can you please provide me with the necessary information for requesting a new license.

Hi,

Enterprise Edition($$) comes with a test license (possibly two, my memory is fuzzy). If you’re using Developer Edition($) you would need a second license for a test server. At that point you might want to talk to sales to see if an upgrade is worth it.
