Sonar Cloud Line limit!

Can anyone explain how exactly the line limit works when I take up a plan?
I currently have a 1M line active plan. But suddenly two weeks back I hit the limit and my workflows started giving errors saying that the line limit is reached. I thought the line count consumed would get reset to 0 on Oct 14th which was my next billing date then and I assumed that I could scan 1M new lines of code this month. But it really didn’t happen yesterday as I thought. So is this how sonar cloud plan works?

Hi,

Welcome to the community!

Your license limit is about how many lines of code you have under analysis, not how many lines you’ve analyzed total in the month. As an example, if I have one 10k LOC project and a 100k LOC license…

If I analyze my project once, I’ve used: 10k License-LOC
I analyze the project again. I’ve used: 10k License-LOC
I analyze it 20 more times. I’ve used: 10k License-LOC

I then analyze a different, 15k LOC project. Now I’ve used: 25k License-LOC.

Does that help?

So the only way to use sonar now for me is to upgrade the plan or delete existing projects(which ofc I can’t do)?

Hi,

You can certainly re-analyze your existing projects. If you need to add additional projects to SonarCloud, then yes you’ll need to upgrade your license.
