Rule templates in SonarCloud

Hi, there!

I’m looking forward to having template rules in Sonarcloud, for a customer.

It seems to not be possible, but I’m surprised in rules.sonarsource.com we have this one rule, which is one of the Rule Templates in SonarQube Server, marked as available in SonarCloud.

But I can’t see it on SonarCloud.

Can someone confirm what’s happening, please?

Hi, @mbastardo.excentia

Thanks for reporting this. This is indeed a bug on the rules.sonarsource.com website. Template rules are not supported on SonarQube Cloud at this time.

Hi, Denis,

Just to be in line, are there any plans to implement this in SonarCloud? Would be so useful…

Hi,

1- The problem has been corrected. Once again, thanks for reporting it.

2- To answer your followup question, it is on our minds, but it is not on our roadmap at this time, which means it is not going to change in the near future.

Denis

Could we do some pressure for further consideration into developing it?

I have recorded your interest in the matter in our database. May I ask if you have specific use cases in mind? (in which cases do you turn to those?)

Yes, ofc!

One customer of us is keen to control if their developers are using some tags in their poms, such as skips tests or so.

Another one wants to raise an issue if theirs are overwriting java target versions (as they have it declared in the parent pom)

Thank you, Denis, and have a wonderful Christmas!

And also, as far as I know some of our competitors have custom secret detection, something potential customers have asked to us and declined the offer
