How to Download and Install SonarQube 9.9 Developer Edition on Linux

Hello SonarQube Community,

We are currently using SonarQube 9.9 Community Edition on a Linux server and are planning to upgrade to the 9.9 Developer Edition to access additional features. Could you please guide us on the following:

  1. System Requirements:
Are there any specific requirements or dependencies for the Developer Edition, or are the requirements similar to the Community Edition? Our current setup includes:
  • OS: Linux
  • Database: ( PostgreSQL)
  • Current SonarQube version: 9.9 Community Edition
  1. Download and Install Steps:
Could you provide or confirm the steps to download and install the Developer Edition for version 9.9? From my understanding, the general steps might look like this:
  • Download the Developer Edition from the SonarSource website.
  • Unzip the package and configure the sonar.properties and wrapper.conf files with our existing configuration.
  • Connect to our existing database.
  • Start SonarQube using the updated binaries.
  1. License Activation:
Once installed, I believe we need to activate a license for the Developer Edition. Could you confirm the steps for license activation?
  2. Backup and Migration Considerations:
Are there any special recommendations for backing up data or configurations when upgrading from the Community to Developer Edition? We want to ensure a smooth transition without losing data.

Any other tips or considerations you could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Martin Luther

Hey there.

The docs should help.

Particularly the sections on requirements, installing the server, license administration and changing your edition.
