Email cannot be linked to this account

I am trying to add a member to my organization but he gets the following message (see screenshot). When I added him his user says “bitbucket user”, we do not use bitbucket and none of my other users have that.
Why is this error happening? How to solve it?

Hello @rcm and welcome to our Community!
If this user has other SQC accounts with the same email address, they are likely affected by a recent security change we implemented. This is a temporary measure, and we are actively working on a less restrictive solution.

As a workaround, the user can update their Azure DevOps email to one that isn’t linked to another SQC account. Once they log in again with the new email, you should be able to add them successfully.

Hello,

We are experiencing the same issue with a user in our department. Updating the email in Azure Devops is not an option as it is associated with company SSO. Is there a better workaround?

My case was solved after the user deleted his BitBucket account linked to the company email.
A bit of a mystery how was this BitBucket account created as we do not even use it.

Ok, that sounds close to what we’re experiencing. In our case what I think happened is the user initially logged in using their Github account, but our sonarcloud instance is associated with Azure Devops. Problem is our code is in Github so they can’t delete that.

@Benjamin_Hansen1 Were you able to fin d a workaround?

Sorry for the delay, but no we weren’t able to find a workaround. We tried having the user deleted their sonarcloud account and recreate it but we’re still seeing the same issue.

Hello @Benjamin_Hansen1 , a way to workaround this is to delete any other SQC account that is not linked to Azure DevOps.
Apologies for this inconvenience, we want to ensure the security of our service and are working on a better solution.
