Can we have any compatibility matrix between Sonarqube and Sonar scanner

I am using Sonarqube 8.9 version and Sonarscanner 4.2 version.
Exactly need clarification wrt to which version of sonarqube is compatible with the scanner version and to what extent. if we upgrade our sonarqube version in the future will it support?

Hi,

as a rule of thumb you should always use the latest Sonar scanner version.
Sonarsource will ensure that this version is compatible with the LTS and the latest Sonarqube version.

Your version 4.2 is rather old, think of changes in the web api, new endpoints, new features not supported by this version … etc.
The current Sonar Scanner version is 4.7.0.2747
