WinSW.CommandException: Failed to open the service control manager database. Access is denied

This is not an issue 99% of the time, but seems to resurface every other weekend when SQB app or database server is patched. As a result, I’m forced to manually restart SQB service (which already appears to be running). Once I do this and wait couple minutes, only then can I access SQB.

Why does this happen, and how do I resolve this with a configuration?

Hi,

Based on the error message in the title, this looks like an OS-level permissions question.

If there’s nothing in your server logs, then you should talk to your sys admins.

HTH,

I am the admin, this has to do with weekend OS patching, server is restarted and maybe connections to SAML or sonar db are delayed? Are there timeout settings to manage/validate this?

I do not see any server log errors besides wrapper as I didn’t set log level in sonar properties during last patching window. I’ll do this next weekend and reply back with my findings.

Hi,

If they were, that would be a failure in your server logs.
