Hello Sonar Community –

In an effort to simplify the naming of our products, we are aligning our current offering under the SonarQube brand. While the new naming was announced today, changes will not appear in the product until December.

The names of the Sonar solutions will change as follows:

  • SonarQube is now SonarQube Server
  • SonarCloud is now SonarQube Cloud
  • SonarLint is now SonarQube for IDE
  • SonarQube Community Edition is now SonarQube Community Build

Hello!

Will you update the domain names as well? More specifically, will https://sonarcloud.io stay the same or will it change at some point?

There are currently no plans to change https://sonarcloud.io, we appreciate how disruptive this could be.

These changes I can understand:

  • SonarQube is now SonarQube Server
  • SonarCloud is now SonarQube Cloud

These changes are silly and unnecessary in my opinion:

  • SonarLint is now SonarQube for IDE
  • SonarQube Community Edition is now SonarQube Community Build
