We are using 10.6 and how long 10.6 will it be in active state? And how frequently we will need to upgrade the version. We have data and configurations intact on 10.6, if we upgrade will it swipe off all the data from the dashboard? We are using SonarQube’s embedded database.
Also, please share the step for upgrade.
As 10.6 is not a LTA (long term active) release and it is no longer in active state since the release of 10.7.
Thus if you want to have a active release, you need to either upgrade to each minor release or only go to the LTA releases (currently 9.9.8 LTA). According to the release cycle, next year the 10.x LTA is to be expected.
On the other hand, on most cases you will have no real issues if you are using a no-longer-active release of the current main edition (10.x). In our company group I personally update about twice a year, that is each 2nd to 4th minor release. We have analyzers which support the LTS releases of our main development environments (.NET, node) - and this works fine for us.
