Upgrade from 7.8 to 8.9.6 LTS

We are currently on Community Edition - Version 7.8 (build 26217) and long due for an upgrade.

Is there a migration path to follow if we want to upgrade to 8.9.6 LTS? Can we upgrade directly to 8.9.6 LTS?
