SonarQube for VSCode 6.0.1 - AI integrations panel and SQS support raised to 2025.1

Dear VS Code community,

We are very excited to announce the release of SonarQube for VS Code 6.0.1 that upgrades the AI Agents Configuration panel to a brand new AI Integrations panel that guides you through setting up SonarQube CLI and standalone Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations for your AI coding assistants directly within VS Code.

What’s new

  • AI Integrations panel for CLI and MCP onboarding: A new unified panel presents two independent setup cards — SonarQube CLI (for local analysis with Sonar Vortex and agent integrations) and standalone MCP (for seamless SonarQube project context). The panel automatically detects which AI agents are installed in your IDE and displays only relevant setup options.

  • Per-agent standalone MCP configuration: Each detected AI agent now has its own explicit integration row with agent-specific configuration management. VS Code safely reads and writes to agent-specific JSON/JSONC configuration files (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, Kiro) without affecting CLI-managed entries or other MCP servers.

  • Guided CLI setup flow: An interactive step-by-step onboarding experience walks you through CLI installation, authentication, and per-agent integration. Setup commands execute in a visible terminal window, and the AI Integrations view automatically refreshes upon completion.

  • Unified AI agent detection: The AI Integrations view now displays all detected agents from both VS Code extensions and CLI-discovered agents, providing a single pane of glass for managing AI integrations.

  • Updated language analyzers:

    • PHP 4.0.0.16889: Removed deprecated custom rules API, raised Java baseline to 21, improved quality gates for S3011 and S1313 rules

    • Java 8.43.0.47668: Fixed analysis failure caused by S1191 metadata issue

    • IaC 2.19.0.23980: Enhanced S8541 detection for additional container commands, fixed false positives, added Docker telemetry

    • Text 2.51.0.13430: Technical release with internal improvements

Housekeeping

  • We also raised the minimum supported VS Code version raised to 1.100.0 to enable ES module support in mocha test runner (VS Code 1.99.3 ships Node 20.18 which cannot load mocha 12).

  • And we also raised the minimum supported SonarQube Server version to 2025.1

Happy Coding,

Farah
