SonarQube - compatibility matrix

Hi community

I got a question about the SonarQube compatibility matrix shown here and the way I read it.

We are currently running SonarQube developper Edition 8.4.
We’d like to upgrade the SonarJS plugin (now 6.2.2) for higher version for extra features.

My question, according to the way the matrix id made, will this plugin work in higher version of SonarQube (8.5 or more) or this plugin like discontinued ?
Should I read this matrix like: “the version 6.2.2 is the oldest version that is able to run from SonarQube 7.9 to 8.4”

Hey there.

  • You should read the plugin version matrix as showing the highest compatible version with a SonarQube Version
  • For SonarQube v8.5+, SonarSource analyzers have a :x: because they are now built into SonarQube and not upgradable without upgrading SonarQube versions. See: SonarQube v8.5 and Beyond: Where did all the plugins go?

Oh ! I think i passed by this information for the v8 series of SonarQube…
In fact, yes, this is game changer to have more and more plugins built into SonarQube directly.
We will now change our upgrade strategy/frequency.

Thank you so much for you answer
