SonarQube Community Edition Upgrade from 7.1 to 8.5.1

We are currently using SonarQube Community Edition 7.1.
Now that 7.1 version support has been disabled, We are planning to upgrade to the latest version i.e 8.5.1.
Is it necessary to upgrade it to 7.9 LTS and then to 8.5.1 or Can We directly migrate to 8.5.1 ?
As we are new to this upgradation plan please suggest me in detail regarding the steps which we need to consider before starting the upgradation process.

You first need to update to v7.9 LTS.

The Upgrade Notes and Upgrade Guide are critical reading (I’ve linked those for v7.9 LTS, but you should also find the same docs for v8.5).
