Move SonarCloud projects from BitBucket binding to a GitHub binding

  • ALM used - GitHub, Bitbucket Cloud
  • CI system used - Bitbucket Cloud, GitHub

Hi there  we are currently in the process of moving our repositories from BitBucket to GitHub, this is done and the final step for us is SonarCloud transition.

Ideally, we would simply like to unbind from BitBucket and rebind to GitHub in order to keep our configuration in tact as we have 89 projects on SonarCloud with varying configurations.

I see in this thread from 2022 (SonarCloud and migrating from BitBucket to GitHub), that it is possible to “performing manual actions” on SonarCloud’s side to achieve this.

Would it please be possible to do this for our organisation, too?

Many thanks!!!

Hey there.

I’m really sorry, but unfortunately, it’s currently not possible to unbind an organization and bind it to another DevOps platform. This common problem is on our radar, but we don’t have a solution today or in the near-term. We used to make some manual DB changes to accomplish this, but we stopped as they were untested and sometimes created more problems than they solved.

The only way to have your organization bound to a different DevOps Platform currently is to create a new organization and re-import your repositories there. Unfortunately, that means you’ll lose the results of previous analyses on these projects.

If you have a yearly subscription for your current organization, a new coupon can be issued for your new organization by reaching out to your sale representative.
If you have a monthly subscription by credit card, you can simply stop your subscription on the old organization and re-subscribe on the new one.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey Colin thank you for the response. We’ll look into our best option here.

Happy for you to close this request.

Cheers!
