Merging two organizations under one enterprise subscription

Hi folks, your colleague Berkay is sending us here.

We’d like to merge two organizations (Teams) under the same Enterprise subscription. What’s the easiest way to avoid having to recreate many projects, mostly manually, likely losing the history.

Many thanks

Hello,

At this time, there is no way to move projects between organizations.

However, if you’re on the Enterprise plan, you can have multiple organizations under a single enterprise. You might find this structure helpful for managing multiple organizations.

You can learn more here: Managing your enterprise | SonarQube Cloud Documentation

Hope that helps!

I’d like to move the organization with all its projects. Following your link, would that work just like described there? Onboarding organization on enterprise | SonarQube Cloud Documentation

Assuming you already have an Enterprise Plan, moving an organization under your enterprise is a non-destructive process. Just follow this part of the docs:

  1. Add the organization to the enterprise:
  • Retrieve your enterprise.
  • Go to Administration > Organizations and select Add organization.

All your projects will remain as they were. The org will become a “child” of the enterprise.

well… The other organization (Team plan, I’m admin) cannot be added.

the other org doesn’t have any coupon afaik.

Then I would guess your Enterprise was created before July 15, so you’ll need to follow the old process as outlined in the documentation.

This involves contacting contact@sonarsource.com to request an Enterprise coupon for your existing Team Plan organization.

I understand this may seem indirect, especially after being directed here, and the documentation could be clearer about this step—I’m working to address that.

We created the enterprise this very morning. I’ve granted myself the Administer Organization right. The orgs are bound to our GitHub organization if that helps.

Can you check? You should be able to see this in the Billing & Upgrade tab of the organization you can’t add.

(I don’t know what we do if there is a coupon assigned to that org, to move it under the Enterprise, which appears to be a condition)

Adding an organization to an enterprise

You can add an organization to an existing enterprise provided:

  • You are an admin of both the enterprise and the organization.
  • The organization to be added has no coupon assigned.

I’m asking.

No coupons.

It’s a Team plan bound to a GitHub org.

My user is the same GitHub user for both orgs and enterprise.

Hello @greut

Let me make sure I get your request correctly.
You currently have 2 organizations, and you would like to add those 2 organizations under one enterprise.

You purchased an enterprise plan through our sales team and you got provided with an enterprise coupon that you applied to one of your org.
You then created an enterprise from that organization.

Now you would like to add the 2nd organization under that enterprise that you just created but you can’t because it says “You’ve added all eligible organizations”.
I can see that 2nd organization is already under a monthly team plan that you pay by credit card.

If that is all correct, to add your 2nd organization you need to get another enterprise coupon, so you can apply that coupon on that 2nd org. This will automatically cancel your monthly subscription, and once the coupon is applied, do not create a new enterprise, just go to your existing one and you should be able to add your organization this time.

Your sales representative should be able to provide you with a 2nd coupon

All good; thanks for your support.
