Importing projects from GitHub after org created manually

Hi there. I’m onboarding on to sonarcloud. Initially I was told to create an organization manually so that I could provide the org key to bind to the license / coupon. I had to create the organization manually because my ALM is a private instance of Google Enterprise cloud - I couldn’t get past the payment screen. I was able to connect to GitHub after and import a single project. Now when I try to add new projects, I receive the following error
This organization is not bound to an ALM application

After that, it is asking me to create an organization and add a coupon / payment method.

The folks at SonarCloud have been unable to help so far. They redirected me to this forum.

  • ALM used: Private GitHub Enterprise Cloud
  • Error observed: This organization is not bound to an ALM application

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create Organization manually
  • Add coupon
  • Add projects (+)
  • Import from GitHub
  • Select GH org
  • Configure SonarCloud app in GH. hit save
  • Presented with the screen for creating an organization / payment

Potential workaround

  • Delete the original organization & coupon
  • Recreate the organization using the automated Import feature
  • Enter a new coupon
  • (I’ve asked the folks at Sonar to do this but no luck)

Hi @marcus-p,

From what I understand from the description there is a bit of confusion in the steps

  • create manual organization
    and
  • import org from GitHub

When you create an organization manually and try to import a project, you’ll see the message "This organization is not bound to an ALM application' until you bind it to the existing org as described here. If you import an organization from GitHub instead of binding it, it will create a new organization on SonarCloud.
Also, could you please clarify ALM used: Private GitHub Enterprise Cloud - I assume that it’s not an on-premises solution and your repositories are hosted on gitHub.com, is that correct?

Let me know if it helps.

Best regards,
Bogdana
