What did I do? Searched docs and personal preferences
After the 10.2 update the UI is looking really nice, but it is really hard to look at in terms of color contrast and brightness. It’s hard to know where one element starts an one ends.
what are you trying to achieve : switch a dark mode
what have you tried so far to achieve this : went through menus
Hello !
Is there a way to activate a dark mode in SonarQube ?
The latest UI updates are nice but very shiny. A dark mode would be awesome.
Is it something coming along in the next updates ?
Hello @ryanc1234 and @Narfix, yes we are considering having a Dark Mode on SonarQube, you can see it as being under consideration in our public roadmap here.
We already successfully released a dark theme for SonarCloud this summer, and we’d like to bring the same theme on SonarQube eventually.
As for your feedback on the brightness of the Light Mode, point taken! We are continuously iterating on our UI design based on feedback from our users, and contrast revision is something our UX designers are currently looking into.
Our teams would of course always like more features, but dark mode is by far and away the biggest thing missing from SonarQube for us right now. We have a lot of engineers (myself included) with over a decade of staring at a screen. Legacy light mode websites cause eye strain.
I can’t believe this feature is still “under consideration”, especially after making the new user interface in 10.8 which is, like way lighter than it was before.
And even after consolidating all products under the SonarQube brand, SonarQube Server doesn’t have this option.
It’s worth pointing out that the original request for this has been made over 2 years ago. I recognize that features can take a long time to develop and this is one is more of a “nice-to-have” than a “must-have”, but two years for a dark-theme? MS DevOps, GitHub and many other portals support dark themes and it seems like developers, in general, prefer to not have a bright monitor shine into their faces all day long (unlike sales people, for some reason :P), so it’s a wee bit strange this is still on the backburner…
