"Couldn't find root component" on every operation (can't even delete project)

Hi,
We are using the SonarCloud service and a project that was previously working is now failing with this error when it tries to scan the project:

“Couldn’t find root component with uuid AW2VNumteWHkXVU8_DRC”

I tried to delete the project in SonarCloud in hopes that it would resolve the issue, but I can’t even delete the project—it fails with the same error.

How can this be resolved?
