Constant repeated freezing with SonarLint in IntelliJ

SonarLint (10.2.1.77304) constantly freezes my IDE for 4 to 15 seconds. When I disable the plugin the IDE freezes (mostly) stop.
To be clear: Sometimes IntelliJ itself stops due to indexing or whatever, but with SonarLint it’s an intolerable nightmare. It’s a constant stop & go, with only a few minutes where it’s not freezing.

SonarLint must be put completely in the background, before that is done, I have to let the SonarLint plugin be completely disabled. Otherwise it’s a too big productivity killer.

Hello @LinterUser,

Welcome to this community. I’m sad to hear that you are facing UI freezes. We usually take these problems very seriously as we don’t want SonarLint to get in the way of developers working.

When the UI freeze happens, could you extract thread dumps, and upload them here? That would greatly help us understand what is going on, and we could have a chance to fix it before the release planned next week. Thanks

FYI we just released a new version containing fixes for a potential UI freeze and memory leaks. Would you please give it a try and report back here if you still observe issues?

Thanks for the feedback. I found a “solution” to the problem and monitored it closely. It seems the problem comes if IntelliJ runs longer, I just have to restart IntelliJ and SonarLint is “fixed”.
But that isn’t enough, because of course that was one of my first “fixing” attempts. After a day or so, I have to restart my whole PC.

I wanted to be sure before posting an update, but now I’m pretty sure that’s the “fix”. So I’m not so sure anymore it’s the plugins fault, maybe the OS, maybe IntelliJ.

I tried the plugin in its latest version and it seems fine. If the overall behaviour is better, I can only tell aftter a little while more obversation.
