I am sure this question has been asked already, however I did not see any direct responses. We are running LTS version 9.9.8 of sonar server developer edition. We are looking to upgrade to LTA. The question is should we or can we go directly to the latest version 2025.3.1.109879 or do we have to upgrade in steps. Also is there gotcha’s that have been discovered since the versions were released, I did look at the FAQ, but did not quite see anything, except that it may require support ( which does not exist in developer edition currently ) . Thank you in advance.
Hey there.
Answers to all these questions (and more!) can be found in the docs.
Thanks @Colin ! I did look at that , but the way it is written, is a bit confusing , considering an example shows there. So from 9.9 LTS it says to 2025.1.X , but then it also says later that you can go directly to the latest, so which one is it.
9.9.X LTS ->2025.1.X LTA ->2025.X.X LTA or
9.9.X LTS → 2025.X.X LTA
Thank you in advance.
It’s this one.
can you point out the section?
it is in on this page
Since 9.9.X is also being referred to as LTA below from the page is a bit confusing.
*** If there is at least one LTA version in your upgrade path, you must first upgrade to each intermediate LTA and then to your target version.**
*** When upgrading to an LTA version, you should directly upgrade to its latest patch.**
*** You can upgrade from the latest LTA version to the latest non-LTA version directly.**
*** If you’re migrating from an earlier patch version of an LTA, you can upgrade directly to the next LTA. You don’t need to install any intermediate patch versions.**
