Hello,
We are getting “The request cannot be processed. Try again later.” popup error.
We have tried increasing request filtering up to 16KBs to no use (see attached).
which versions are you using: We are using SonarQube Server, running on a hyper-v vm, with IIS providing web functionality, version Enterprise Edition
v2025.1 (102418) / Community Build, Scanner, Plugin, and any relevant extension)
how is SonarQube deployed: Zip installation
what are you trying to achieve: Provide access to affected users on a more reliable basis and avoid this issue in future
what have you tried so far to achieve this: Server restart, app pool recycle, web browser cache purge
Looking through the logs, I couldn’t find anything that would give guidance on what could be wrong. However, the web-browser console does contain following error:
Below is the link in the error:

Hi Mikhail,
You explicitly mention having IIS in the middle here. It makes me wonder if the 400 is coming from SonarQube itself or from IIS in the middle. Can you check your $SONARQUBE-HOME/logs/access.log
to see if the request reaches SonarQube & it’s SonarQube returning a 400?
Thx,
Ann

Hello Ann,
Thank you for replying.
Below are the access logs that correlate to accessing Measures page. I have replaced the IP with the classic 127.0.0.1
There isn’t anything I can see here, but I would appreciate any input from your side.
Best Regards,
Mikhail R.

Hi Mikhail,
Without knowing the date/time of your UI tests, this log doesn’t help me much. Except that I can see that every request here has a 200
(success) response code…
I would expect you to test the page and concurrently check the access log to see if the request shows up there. If it doesn’t then we can be pretty confident that something in the middle is interfering.

Hello Anna,
My apologies for a lack of reply.
I have misread your previous update.
That’s the thing, there is nothing else in the logs. The replication of the issue happened exactly in this time frame.
I am trying to access measure page (link in the logs). And the log content related to the activity does not change on a higher logging level.
Could it be due to the fact Measure page is empty?
Best Regards,
Mikhail R.

Hello Anna,
Yeah, below are excerpt from the logs above. This is exactly my attempt to access the page.

Apologies, I realized how confusing that that batch of logs looks if you do not know exact links.

Hi,
Both of those log lines show a 200
status, meaning they were successful. That tells me the problem lies between SonarQube and the client. You should talk to your network folks.

Hello Ann,
I spoke to the user who raised the issue on our side.
They are pointed that Measures page is empty while it should not be.
Let me try to explain. The user who reported the issue accesses Measure page via overview section clicking on the Coverage section.
However, the measures section supposed to have explanation of the coverage. While it has nothing on the affected page and gives an error every time open the page (even when moving back and forth between browser tabs):
It seems that SQ does not upload\processes the report. Which logs would show if the report was processed properly?
Best Regards,
Mikhail R.

Hi Mikhail,
When the user is on that blank Measures page, are there any errors in the browser console? The network tab?

Hi,
Do you, by chance, have an IIS proxy in the mix here? I’m seeing 400 Bad Request
after a very long URL in this log, and IIS is notorious for not liking long URLs. You should talk to your network folks and get them to increase the allowed URL length.
HTH,

Hello Ann,
I have increased the maximum query length to thrice of what the link is (16Kb vs 5Kb in notepad).
I have also checked for proxies on the iis and were unable to find any (see attached).
Finally, I spoke to our network team - they have informed me that there is no proxies or other things affecting traffic to that server is internal and not a subject to any network governance.
Did I change wrong settings for IIS? I mean, Maximum query length seems right. But are you talking about something else to increase allowed length of the URL.
Best Regards,
Mikhail R.

Hi Mikhail,
If your network folks claim there’s nothing on the network interfering, then there’s nothing to adjust in IIS.
Your next step is to check your $SONARQUBE-HOME/logs/access.log
to see if the request for that 400 URL from your log actually reaches SonarQube. I suspect it doesn’t, but let’s verify before you go back to your network folks.
