Hi,
I’m looking for some assistance switching my existing SonarQube Cloud organization from the standard Free plan to the OSS Plan.
I originally contacted SonarSource by email, and the team directed me here for assistance.
Issue I found
When I navigate to Billing and usage → Modify plan / Compare all plans, I can see the regular SonarQube Cloud plans, but I don’t see an option to migrate the existing free organization to the Free OSS Plan.
Could you please let me know how I can migrate the existing organization to the Free OSS Plan, or whether the migration needs to be performed manually by the SonarSource team, I would like to avoid closing and reopening the account loosing the history.
I’m happy to provide any additional information required to verify the organization or its eligibility.
Hey @skhell, welcome to the Community! Unfortunately, there’s no way to move an existing organization to the OSS plan because the OSS plan is only selectable on organization creation. So this means you will have to create a new organization, which will lose your projects’ history. Here are the docs explaining how to create an OSS-plan organization.

thank you so much for answering and sharing the article, I was reading exactly that yestarday before opening this thread. So for my understanding I have to proceed closing the organization and opening it again?
If I do that I will loose the “key unique identifier” or I’m able to register it again as it is after a few seconds by recreate the OSS organization?
Yes, you have to delete the organization and create it again, under the OSS plan. You can reuse the organization key, no problem about that. You can register it again immediately after deleting it.
I’m aware of the friction here, I totally understand that it’s a pity to lose the organization/project analysis history and configuration. I will let our PMs know that this is an issue that users (like you) are actually running into, perhaps in the future we can improve the experience.
