Our users began getting an error message this week: “The version ‘9.0.0.45539’ users by the current connection ‘https-sonarqube’ will be soon unsupported. Please consider upgrading to the latest 9.9 LTS version to ensure continued support and access to the latest features.”
Unfortunately we aren’t able to upgrade our SonarQube server anytime soon. Do you have a timeline on when SonarLint will go out of support with our SonarQube version? Also, will it still function when it’s out of support (and just lack new features)?
Thank you for your post. You will be able to find the SonarQube-SonarLint version support policy in our docs.
In short, SonarLint will still enable connecting to the previous LTS version for a certain period of time (currently 12 months after the latest LTS release). That means, Connected Mode with SonarQube versions older than 9.9LTS will be discontinued starting February 2024.
We encourage you to upgrade your SonarQube server, you will find many useful resources here in the Community, as well as in the docs, as well as in this video.
Of course, you will still have an option to stop upgrading your SonarLint version from February 2024 in order to keep the Connected Mode working, but it goes without saying that this option should only be used as a last resort
