Hi all,
We had a fantastic Sonar meetup in our Geneva HQ this week—so much fun connecting with our community, including two of our amazing Sonar Navigators @Bachri_Abdel and @jonesbusy! Learn more about our upcoming meetups here.
Next week, I’ll be off to Basel for Eurovision—meanwhile, @ganncamp will be owning the spotlight here solo! She’ll sing for you if you ask.
As always, we want to take a moment to recognize everyone who sparked interesting discussions and gave us valuable feedback to drive continuous improvement.
SonarQube Server & Community Build:
- We currently aren’t signing our SonarQube Helm charts with PGP. It’s good practice, and while it’s not a top priority, it’s on our to-do list. Thanks to @j.b! SONAR-24735
SonarQube Cloud:
- There’s a size limit for Automatic Analysis, but right now it’s only documented for Java. After feedback from @Ryan_Shannon, we’ll be improving the documentation.
SonarQube for IDE:
-
Data corruption issues in SonarQube for VSCode have become common enough that we’re adding troubleshooting steps to the docs. Thanks @violetbrina for raising this!
-
SonarQube for Eclipse should handle resource changes in batch to prevent slow startup and other sluggishness. Thanks @stefan.ionica! SLE-1182
Rule & Language Improvements:
-
@mauritz-lovgren pointed out that
java:S1144
should also account forjakarta.enterprise.event.ObservesAsync
(not justObserves
) when detecting unused private methods. We’re fixing this with SONARJAVA-5548. -
@casey.schmit’s report of a failing automatic analysis helped us uncover a bug in our Python analyzer, which we’ll resolve. Thanks!
-
java:S2699
was not recognizingorg.springframework.util.Assert
methods, leading to false positives. Thanks @nutmix for the report! A PR for SONARJAVA-5547 is already open.
Other:
- @lrozenblyum let us know about an annoying popup when browsing our Jira anonymously. We’re looking into it.
Thank you again to everyone mentioned—and to those we may have missed—for your ongoing contributions in making this community stronger and helping us improve Sonar products.
If you’d like to give a shout-out to someone, whether a community member or a SonarSourcer who helped you, please do so below. And if there’s someone you think we should acknowledge next week, let us know!
