Hello Sonar Community!
It’s my turn to take some vacation next week. See you in September!
We’re grateful every time you give us feedback, so like every week we want to spend some time acknowledging everyone who prompted interesting discussions and gave us feedback to help us continuously improve.
SonarQube:
- As community hero @Bachri_Abdel pointed out, our docs on Running SonarScanner from the Docker image could use some more detail, particularly about how to pass different analysis parameters. We’ve created a ticket to update the docs. Thanks!
SonarCloud:
-
As @kubickim suggested, we ought to do a better job handling errors when converting binary code coverage reports to XML. Thanks! SCAN4NET-19 SCAN4NET-20
-
For some reason, still unknown to us, excluding some C# rules via an
.editorconfig
file isn’t working. Thanks for the report @ABinkowskiATDOCOsoft!. We’ll investigate that with SCAN4NET-16
SonarLint:
-
There are some corner cases where SonarLint for Visual Studio isn’t connecting successfully to SonarQube instances when users try to use connected mode. Thanks @mullikina SLVS-1369
-
We accidentally turned off the compatibility of SonarQube 9.9.x LTA (except for the latest v9.9.6) and SonarLint for VSCode. That’s fixed now. Thanks a lot @simon.longpre! SLCORE-922
-
Shoutout to @Karsten, @trexdev, and @fbregeon for helping us track down a deadlock in SonarLint for Visual Studio. The issue (SLVS-1412) is fixed in the already released v8.2.2 version!
Rule & Languages Improvements:
-
Kudos to @candrews for pointing out a false-positive with
docker:S6506
when--ignore-script
is missing but the environment variableYARN_ENABLE_SCRIPTS
isfalse
! SONARIAC-1595 -
java:S5860
is raising false-positives when regular expressions are used in lambdas. Nice catch @k-wall! SONARJAVA-5101 -
Duplication of Ruby code (and as we later found out, Go and Scala) is not being detected during PR analysis! This is a really important find and it’s thanks to @Jesus_Lacerda! SONARRUBY-5, SONARSCALA-8, SONARGO-10
-
Kudos to @George_L for finding a bug in our HTML analyzer which causes an exception on PHP short tags. SONARHTML-250
Once more, we extend our thanks to everyone mentioned here - and those we may have missed - for their efforts in strengthening this community and enhancing our Sonar products.
Please leave your own recognitions below – whether for another community member or a SonarSourcer who assisted you this week. If there’s someone you think should be acknowledged in next week’s roundup, don’t hesitate to let us know.
@Colin, @ganncamp, and @leith.darawsheh
