We’re sharing a reminder about an upcoming change to SonarQube Cloud that may mean changes are needed on your side.
Starting July 20, analyses running on SonarQube Cloud with a Java runtime lower than 21 will no longer be supported and will fail.
Who is impacted?
You are impacted by this change if your analysis environment relies on a custom Java runtime lower than 21.
Who is not impacted?
If you are using a currently supported scanner version with JRE auto-provisioning enabled, no action is needed, since the required Java runtime is managed automatically.
If you are using a custom Java runtime, but you’re already on Java 21 or higher, no action is needed.
What you need to do
Before July 20: If your team uses a custom Java runtime for analysis, please update that environment to Java 21 or later or begin using JRE auto-provisioning to avoid disruption.
If you’re unsure whether JRE auto-provisioning is active, you can check your scanner logs for JRE provisioning messages.
This change has been communicated previously in our documentation, scanner log warnings, UI warnings, and earlier community updates. We’re posting this reminder to help make sure teams have time to prepare before the change takes effect.
