We’re excited to announce our new Jira Cloud integration as a beta program for SonarQube Cloud Enterprise and Team plans. This feature is designed to seamlessly connect SonarQube Cloud into your existing Jira workflow, helping you track, manage, and resolve issues faster than ever.
What can you do with the new integration?
This integration is a direct bridge between code and project management.
Turn SonarQube issues into actionable Jira Work Items
You can instantly create a work item in your desired Jira Cloud project directly from the SonarQube interface. The new Jira work item comes pre-populated with rich, contextual information, so your teams have everything they need to get started:
The title of the SonarQube issue and a direct link back to it.
The exact code location, including file path, line numbers, and the commit hash.
An explanation of why it’s an issue, with the rule name and a link for more information.
Tracking version-based releases in Jira?
Once a SonarQube project is connected to a Jira project, a new Jira widget will appear on your Main Branch Summary page. This widget gives you a quick overview of your release readiness by showing you:
The number of open Jira issues tied to your earliest unreleased version.
The upcoming release date and version number.
Where to find it
Ask your SonarQube Organization Administrator to connect your organization to your Jira instance by navigating to your organization and Administration > Organization Settings > Jira.
Next, a Project Administrator can bind a SonarQube project to a specific Jira project and configure which Jira work types (e.g., Bug, Task, Story) are available to be created. Navigate to the project and Administration > General Settings > Jira.
As this is a beta, your feedback is crucial to help us refine and improve the experience. Please share your thoughts on the workflow, what you find most useful, and what you’d like to see next!

Thanks a lot for reaching out! Loving the Back To The Future pun
Ideally, fixing issues as they come is still a very good practice.
The goal with this integration is to empower developers within the workflows they already have rather than prescribe a single way of working. Hence, this new integration is our way of giving users the flexibility to manage their workflow in a way that makes the most sense for them.
Following a successful beta period, I’m thrilled to announce that the Jira integration for SonarQube Cloud and our first set of features is now Generally Available (GA)!
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the beta program. Your feedback was incredibly valuable and helped us refine the feature for this official release.
As a reminder, this integration allows you to:
Create Jira issues directly from SonarQube: Instantly turn a finding into an actionable work item, pre-populated with all the rich technical context your developers need.
Track your release readiness (version-based releases): The Jira widget on the Main Branch Summary page gives you at-a-glance insight into open tickets for your upcoming release versions
While the beta is over, our lines are always open for feedback. We’d love to hear how this integration is improving your team’s workflow.
Thanks again to our amazing community!
Best,
John

Native integration for Jira is back! Kudos for Sonar team!
Just wanted to let you know that there is an app in Atlassian Marketplace developed by excentia that provides Jira integration as well, but focusing on Jira’s side (and Confluence too). And it works for both SonarQube Server and SonarQube Cloud (aka SonarCloud).
You can try it for free:
It provides a full panel inside Jira projects with all the SonarQube data information, and allows you to create Jira issues with just one-click, along with many other features (security standards navigation, PDF reporting, issues filtering, …):
