I want to report Overview metrics up to management so that they can monitor if the metrics are improving or deteriorating over time. How do people normally report this information upwards?
Is there a way to export the overview metrics to an excel file?

The Activity tab of your SonarQube project shows historical data, and you can also share this page with management assuming you grant them access!
There is no “export to excel” feature – if you really need to report data outside of SonarQube, the Web API can help (documentation linked in the footer of your instance)
