the docs don’t mention anything about automatic provisioning feature not being available in the open source edition of SonarQube, in fact I found a community post from April that said they successfully enabled it in SonarQube CE, but my current SonarQube 10.5.1 install says automatic provisioning is not available in this edition and to look at the docs for more information.
The linked docs make no mention of it being one of the restricted features at all, though, and the product pages on the sonarsource website don’t mention it either.
Am I missing something or are the docs just not up-to-date with the feature being restricted to paid-for-versions of SonarQube?
Thanks! I assumed you meant project provisioning, so sorry for my confusion.
I agree the docs are lacking here. I’m going to flag this for our docs team.
Indeed, automatic user and group provisioning is available starting in the Enterprise Edtion. This is not a big deal for users who mostly aren’t assigned individual permissions anyways (we recommend groups), but it does mean any group you want to sync between SonarQube/Gitlab will have to be created on demand.
Thanks for the confirmation. That’s what we thought already.
It’s not too much of a hassle and it definitely falls in line with what’s usually considered “only necessary for large organizations”.
Interestingly enough ChatGPT immediately told me it’s only available in the Enterprise Edition, but I couldn’t find that Info on the SonarSource website or docs.
So it must be available somewhere, just not as obvious as I’d like it to be.
