Installing SQ 7.9 on Ubuntu 14.04 exit value [es]: 143

This is a fresh install not an upgrade. After fixing issues such as creating a user to run sonar.sh, fixing max file descriptors, vm.max_map_count I am still encountering this error

Hi,

I’m sorry you’re encountering this. I believe your problem is related to the one here:

Both of you are getting errors about Unsafe being unavailable.

If you don’t mind, could you be real specific about your Java version and vendor, please?

Thx,
Ann

Oracle Java 12. jdk-12_linux-x64_bin.tar.gz

 sonarqube-7.9/jdk-12/bin/java -version
java version "12" 2019-03-19
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 12+33)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 12+33, mixed mode, sharing)

Also please keep in mind this is a fresh install not an upgrade so there shouldn’t be any clashes with older versions of SQ.

Hello!

Two thoughts come to mind.

SonarQube v7.9 LTS supports a Java 11 Runtime, not Java 12. Please make sure SonarQube is running on Java 11.

It looks like you have less than 5% useable space on your SonarQube server.

(96.4 - 4.8) / 96.4 = 95.02%.

Elasticsearch ought to throw a much more… verbose hissyfit if it ends up in a situation with less than 5% space. See our documentation on the subject. If not, that’s something we’ll have to test out and tackle.

I would recommend trying to free up some space (or expanding the drive), trashing your $SONARQUBE_HOME/data/es6 folder and try starting your instance again.

Otherwise, it would be good to check all your other log files (web.log, ce.log, sonar.log) as well for any errors.

Colin

Hello,

FYI, as explained on the referenced other thread. The message about Unsafe is not an error.

Hey,
I am also trying to install Sonarqube 7.9 Enterprise edition on RHEL and throws me the same error as here. FYI my jdk version is “11.0.3”. The process gets exited and crashes automatically. Trying to debug logs but couldn’t find in there.

Below are the logs :
