Hi, I am currently using SonarQube Community Edition LTA version 9.9.2.77730. Recently, Sonar announced the transition from SonarQube Community Edition to SonarQube Community Build.
My understanding is that SonarQube Community Build is functionally the same as SonarQube Community Edition, with only the name and versioning format changing. However, SonarQube Community Build will no longer have a designated Long-Term Availability (LTA) version. Instead, it will follow a regular release cycle, requiring frequent upgrades to stay up to date.
Based on this, the latest version I should download is 25.3.0.104237, which does not have LTA support, and there is no LTA version available in the Community Build. This means I will need to upgrade SonarQube regularly to ensure access to the latest features and fixes.
Could you please confirm if my understanding is correct?
Please help me on this. Please confirm if I should proceed with SonarQube Community Build 25.3.0.104237, or should I download SonarQube 9.9.9 LTA - Community Edition instead, since our standard requires an LTA version that receives stable security patches?
SonarQube v9.9.9 LTA will soon be EOL, and there will be no LTA versions of SonarQube Community Build. You will need to stay on the latest version, which right now is v25.3.
If your organization needs LTA versions, you might consider SonarQube Server!
Our team prefers to use SonarQube 9.9.9 LTA Community Build. However, as you mentioned, this version will soon reach End of Life (EOL). Could you provide the exact EOL date for this release so we can make an informed decision?
Additionally, when attempting to download SonarQube 9.9.9 LTA, the file ‘sonarqube-9.9.8.100196’ is being downloaded instead. Could you clarify why the exact version is not available?
SonarQube 9.9.9 was only released for Enterprise and Data Center Edition, as it fixed a bug only relevant to large instances working with support through their upgrade migrations.
SonarQube 9.9 LTA is supported via commercial support until 6 months after the release of a new LTA (which happend in January, so that’s July 2025). But as far as the Community Edition is concerned, it’s essentially EOL already. You should upgrade ASAP.

This means, after LTA version 9.9, it will no other or higher LTA community version be rolled out? The version 2025.1 LTA is only for Developer, Enterprise and Data Center available?
