How to change main branch name of an application

  • which versions are you using (SonarQube, Scanner, Plugin, and any relevant extension)

  • Version 9.6 (build 59041)

  • what are you trying to achieve
    We created an application to group some projects but the main branch is now called master.
    I would like to rename that to main but I can’t find where you can change this name

  • what have you tried so far to achieve this
    Looked around all the available settings for an application but I can’t find where to change this one

Hi,

If you go to Project Settings → Branches & Pull Requests the cog menu for the main branch gives you the option to Rename branch.

Thank you for the reply but this an application not a project, this is an option application settings that shows the master branch but there is no cog menu for the master branch. There is an option to create a new branch so we created a main branch but then there is no option to make that the default. (only edit and delete)

Hi,

Sorry, I guess I was reading too quickly last week. You’re right that there doesn’t seem to be an option for this. I’m going to raise the point internally. Thanks for bringing it up!
