GitLab Integration: Specify comment content

Dear Community,

I have GitLab (On-premise) integrated with SonarQube Server using maven-sonar-scanner plugin/DevOps Integration so that merge requests comments can be created by the sonarqube-bot user providing information about new/fixed issues, test coverage% etc. The comment then looks like the following.

However, if for example the code duplication% fails the condition set by the Quality Gate, the merge request comment will only show the failed code duplication condition.

I would have expected that I would be shown all the same information as in the first screenshot, with code duplication being one bullet point. Sure, I can access all the information on the analysis page, but I would like to save on some clicks for our developers and myself

How can I configure SonarQube to create a merge request comment that still shows all the information from the first screenshot (or at least parts of it), even if the code duplication condition fails? I may have missed the configuration information in the SonarQube Server documentation, I was however not able to find it right away…

Using SonarQube Server Version: 2025.1 and GitLab Version 17.5.

Kind regards,
Roland

Hi,

Welcome to the community!

There’s no configuration for this because it isn’t available.

I’ll pass the feature request on internally

Ann

Thank you, Ann. Is it possible for me to view the status of the feature request somewhere?

I found Feedback Portal / Suggest a Feature - Sonar Knowledge Base, but I am not sure if that is the same thing as yours.

Kind regards,
Roland

Hi Roland,

That’s an entirely different Sonar.

Unfortunately, there isn’t anywhere you can follow this (yet). I’ve flagged it for the PMs. At some point, they’ll be along and file an “insight” internally. Someday enough insights on a given topic might coalesce into a “portal card” which would be publicly visible & give you the option to vote & comment.

Thank you again, Ann, for helping me on my newbie questions

Regarding the portal card, do I correctly assume that I would need to monitor following board for that?

Hi Roland,

Yes, that’s the place.
