Consolidating Accounts to Enterprise

This is an account and plans question.

Today we have several projects with separate accounts running on the Teams plan.

What is the best approach to move all of these to an Enterprise plan? One Enterprise plan? Would we then need to set up most of the projects again in that account? I can’t see that there is a migration function. We’d lose history I guess.

Can we promote all of the accounts to the Enterprise plan instead, or is that a bad idea cost-wise?

What is the recommended approach? We would love to have one managed account for all of our projects. We have a total of about 40 projects spread out. If we go Enterprise I believe other teams will want to jump on board so would be nice to have a plan to support a larger organisation.

I can add that we potentially have some projects in another GitHub organization. I assume that would make us need separate accounts anyway, as bindings are one-to-one still?

Cheers,
/ Mikael

Hey there.

The Enterprise Plan gives you a single Enterprise which can house many organizations (including existing organizations which get added to that enterprise). You wouldn’t have to start anything over from scratch.

I’d suggest that you get in touch with sales so you can move towards an evaluation!

I may add that it is not possible to add multiply identity providers to one enterprise, at least not two MS Entra connections. This was mentioned in a meeting from sales when we discussed consolidating two SonarQube instances after a merger of companies.

Ok, thanks @Colin sounds good, then we’re in a better position! Thanks for the info @milbrandt , we use one Entra for the SSO so should be fine.
