Case (in-) sensitive identification with SAML authenticatoin

Continuing the discussion from Migration to SAML authentication:

The login identification seems to be case-sensitive. Is this really necessary and by design?
I have users in the system which are currently identified with a name like lukas but in the Azure AD they are named like Lukas.
Would it be possible to make the identification case-insensitive?

This applies to SQ version 9.9 and 10.0.

I’m curious – would Azure AD allow you to have both Lukas and lukas?

No, I do not think so.
This is why I’m asking for case-IN-sensitive identification in SQ using SAML.
