About the Github Sync and new groups created

Must-share information (formatted with Markdown):

  • which versions are you using: SonarQube 7.9.2
  • what are you trying to achieve: when we create a new Github group, we would like the group and it’s members to be automatically propagated into respective Sonarqube groups, and pull all members.
  • what have you tried so far to achieve this:
    – disable/re-enable " Synchronize teams as groups" in Github section of settings.
    – manualy created Sonarqube group named $org/$teamname similar to the fix listed in a similar issue with the Gitlab Auth/Group functionality https://github.com/gabrie-allaigre/sonar-auth-gitlab-plugin/issues/33

So you know, I’ve moved this to the ‘Suggest new features’ category`.

@ganncamp so just to clarify, this is not a currently supported feature, and after linking the github auth provider, there is no way to “re-sync” the Github group membership?

Hi, GitHub membership is synchronised per-user, during each login through SonarQube+GitHub. If you change the membership on GH, users will have to logout and login again to have their SonarQube groups matching GH groups.

Notes that SonarQube groups need to be created manually to match your GH groups, it’s not automatic.
