Upgrade Failed Database connection cannot be established. Please check database status and JDBC sett

Hi Team,

  • We are using Sonarqube 25.10 community build version

  • We deployed sonarqube with Zip

  • Want to upgrade sonarqube community build to latest version(26.1)

  • As per the calculate upgrade path we were planning to upgrade sonarqube from 25.10 to 25.12 then from 25.12 to 26.1, But while upgrading from 25.10 to 25.12 we are facing error “Upgrade Failed

Database connection cannot be established. Please check database status and JDBC settings.”

As the above error is coming for everyone while upgrading to 25.12 and it is fixed in 26.1 version.

So,Please let us know if we can directly upgrade from 25.10 to 26.1?

Thank in advance,

Regards,

Huzaifa Siddiqui

Hi,

There was an issue in 25.12 with the JDBC drivers.

Normally you would have to hit the end-of-year version before moving to the next year’s cycle, but because of that bug, we’ve made an exception this time. So yes, you can jump from 25.x straight to 26.1.

Hi Ann,

I have a couple of questions regarding the SonarQube Community Edition and would appreciate your guidance:

  1. As a Community Edition user, how can we stay informed or be notified about known bugs or critical issues in future releases? Is there any recommended channel, mailing list, or release note subscription we should follow?

  2. In case a particular version has a known bug, is it supported or recommended to directly upgrade to the next stable version, skipping the affected version?

Thank you in advance for your support and clarification.

Best regards,
Huzaifa Siddiqui

Hi Huzaifa,

Only the latest version of Community Build is supported, so it’s always recommended to be on it. You do normally need to hit the last version of the year before you can move to the next year (e.g. 24.12 before 25.x) but this year is an exception.
