  • Steps to reproduce: run scanner
  • Potential workaround: not clear

Hello, I’m trying to integrate sonar scanner into my circleci process, but am not able to connect to sonar server.

It looks like you need to point the scanner to the server. Try editing the sonar.host.url property in [sonar-scanner-install-dir]/conf/sonar-scanner.properties to point to the target server. Are you using SonarCloud or a private instance of SonarQube?

We’re using SonarCloud. Isn’t it supposed to connect automatically?

I’m not a SonarCloud user, but as far as I understand this attribute still needs to be set so the scanner knows where to post results to. I would assume the link is the base url of the SonarCloud site, but I’ll have to defer to others on that as I have only connected to a SonarQube instance.

Hello @jtbaird,

Sorry for the late response.

If you are invoking the sonar-scanner you need to provide the host it should connect to, since the scanner can be used for both SonarCloud and SonarQube. The easiest way to do this is to define an environment variable SONAR_HOST_URL and to set it to https://sonarcloud.io. You can also pass the same value as a command-line argument: sonar-scanner -Dsonar.host.url=https://sonarcloud.io

When using CircleCI we also offer an orb for SonarCloud, when using this orb the correct host is automatically configured.

Hope that helps
