We are pleased to announce the release of SonarScanner for Gradle 7.1 with improved support of Gradle 9. This new release addresses issues for Android projects that were still experiencing crashes at configuration time. It also fixes a few defects introduced with versions 7.0 and 7.0.1, namely the creation of implicit inter-dependency links with tasks from other plugins and crashes when running ./gradlew clean sonar.
This new release of the scanner builds on top of version 7 and should serve as the base for future efforts to better integrate into the Gradle ecosystem.
Users looking to upgrade from version 6.3.1 should look into upgrading directly to 7.1 with the same precaution prescribed with the previous release.
However, we still recommend that anyone whose analysis is still working well on 6.3.1 and has no specific need to update to Gradle 9 should remain on that version.
