SonarQube Server 2026 Release 1 LTA

Hi all,

Sonar is thrilled to announce the availability of SonarQube Server 2026 Release 1, our newest Long Term Active (LTA) version!

The official announcement provides a summary of all new features introduced since the last 2025.1 LTA release.

Discover great features designed to supercharge your workflow:

  • Integration with AI-native IDEs like Cursor, Claude Code, and Windsurf
  • Advanced Security with SCA, SBOM, Advanced SAST, and malicious package detection
  • Faster and broader analysis for Python, Java, JS/TS, Rust and more
  • Expanded compliance with MISRA C++:2023, OWASP Top 10 LLM, and OWASP MASVS
  • Integrations with JFrog, Jira, and Slack

Since SonarQube Server 2025 Release 6, key additions include malicious package detection and new security reports (OWASP Top 10 for LLM and OWASP MASVS), the integration of JFrog Evidence Collection for trusted auditing, and support for .NET 10 and C# 14.

Technical requirements & server environment

  • Java requirements update: SonarQube Server now requires a full Java Development Kit (JDK) and supports Java 25 as server runtime, Java 17 is no longer supported.
  • Database prerequisite updates: The list of minimum supported database versions has been updated. Refer to the database prerequisites documentation for details.
  • Kubernetes support: Recent Kubernetes versions, including 1.35, are now supported in the SonarQube Helm chart.
  • PostgreSQL dependency removal: The deprecated PostgreSQL dependency has been removed from the Helm chart. Users who relied on this dependency in production must migrate to a standalone database before updating (see Helm chart documentation for migration details).

Upgrade path and documentation

You’ll find information about SonarQube Server 2026 Release 1 LTA in the release notes and details in the full release notes.

If you’re updating from the previous LTA (2025 Release 1 or 2025 Release 4), you’ll find a consolidated version of the release notes in the LTA to LTA release notes. When upgrading across multiple versions, ensure you review the upgrade notes for all intervening versions. Importantly, if your current SonarQube version is older than 2025 Release 1, you must first upgrade to 2025 Release 1 before proceeding to 2026 Release 1 LTA.

Please open new threads for any questions you have about this release or other features.

As usual, downloads are available at sonarsource.com. Docker images are also available on Docker Hub and Helm charts are available on ArtifactHub.
