SonarQube Cloud java.net.SocketTimeoutException: timeout

Our org has the same issue. We are unable to merge PRs due to this and happens on 95% of our PRs. For now, we can’t spend too much time and will have to disable Sonar temporarily. We are holding another meeting in couple days to see the next course of action. This is a hit on our security posture.

Our env:
Languages used: Java, Typescript, ReactJS.
CI/CD: Bitbucket

Same issue Github Action can’t upload report. Try multiple versions of scanner and value of parameters without success. It looks it affect multiple languages, sonar version, cloud providers.
We had to remove the mandatory Sonar check on Pull request.

What about Sonar servers rollback strategy ?

Repo: PHP, js, we only build this twice daily, and it’s failed 4 times in the last 3 days

After 11 seconds we run into a timeout. Is this possibliy related with the current outage?
The runner is the public github action runner ubuntu-latest. We did not have this problem last week, it started on monday.

Analysis has started failing (from yesterday) on this repository (which previously was working as expected). New commits to existing PRs (like the one linked above) fail and new PRs do not appear to be detected. I have tried adding additional commits to the existing PRs. It does re-trigger analysis, but it continues to fail with the error.

To the best of my knowledge, we have not made any recent changes to the SonarCloud configuration or to the .sonarcloud.properties file in the repo.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide! :folded_hands: Let me know if I can provide any more information here!

Hello everyone,

I’m pleased to share some good news: SonarQube Cloud’s hosting provider has identified a bug at the CDN-level that resulted in stalled request processing.

The issue has already been addressed at the point of presence (PoP) experiencing the highest error rate, and we’ve seen the error rate for requests routed there drop to zero.

I believe we’re still waiting for this to roll out to other PoPs, but we seem to be on a real path to resolution now.

We’re still getting this error, any ETA when it will be resolved?

We’re at the mercy of our cloud provider and their rollout. We hope this will be resolved soon (today, not next week).

Using bitbucket pipelines to run sonarcloud-scan 4.1.0, previously was running 2.0.0 and started getting the timeout error so tried each version up to 4.1.0, for a private project on sonarcloud to analyze changes on pull request, we are getting random timeout errors, some within the same minute and cannot understand the cause of why these timeouts are happening.

This is the point where the timeout is happening:

This is happening on any size of pull request, ones with 1 file changed and ones with a lot more files changed.

Tried to set different types of timeouts within the yml file but still given the same result.

Same issue.

Scans fails intermittently for random pull requests on a specific repos, sometimes consecutive runs pass. Fails even on empty PRs.

  • ALM used - GitHub

  • Languages of the repository - Javascript, Typescript

  • Error observed - check fails with no errors and it shows as ‘Passed’ in the SonarCloud UI

  • Steps to reproduce - it fails for some scans on one specific internal repo

  • Potential workaround - none

For us the issue is solved. Thx!

Our cloud provider has informed us that the global rollout of the fix is currently in progress. If you are still experiencing any issues, they should be resolved soon. However, if you continue to encounter problems tomorrow, please don’t hesitate to let us know here. Rest assured, we are closely monitoring error rates in the meantime.

We’re still seeing the same issue today, although since yesterday the frequency of the issue has reduced from almost always to just occasionally.

I’m told the fix has been applied to 71 out of 75 edge nodes. If your traffic routes through Kansas, Chicago, Amsterdam, or Seattle, you may still experience errors until the update reaches these remaining locations.

Thanks, it’s likely Amsterdam for us

I’m happy to report that it looks like this issue has been resolved, and we are no longer seeing this error in any region.

I will set this topic to close in a week, assuming no further issues arise.
