SonarQube 9.9 LTS to 2025.1 LTA Upgrade: Increased Test Code Issues (Java)

Hi everyone,

We recently upgraded our SonarQube Server instance from version 9.9 LTS to 2025.1 LTA and noticed a significant increase in reported issues within our Java test code.

I’m trying to understand what has changed between these versions regarding test code analysis for Java projects. I went through the official SonarQube documentation, but haven’t been able to find specific information about changes to test code analysis rules between these versions.

Could someone point me to the release notes or documentation that details:

• Any new rules specifically targeting Java test code introduced in version 2025.1 LTA?
• Changes in existing rules that may now affect Java test code more prominently?

Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot for the help! The links were exactly what I needed.
It’s great to see SonarQube continues to improve also in analysing test code.
The new rules pointed out some areas were we need to clean up some test code.
