Pull request decoration failed. Commit X not found in pull request

[Version: 8.5.1.38104]

First the context, our developers may squash commits down into one or rebase and change the commits internally. We also followed these steps and enabled blocking the merge of pull requests when QG fails.

However, our commits are failing and we see a warning that Pull request decoration failed. Commit 'XXXXXXX' not found in pull request 'XXX'. The workaround current is to merge master in or do an empty commit. That doesn’t seem to be a reasonable approach. Has anyone else seen this or have any suggestions?
