Multi-module settings - why is the global project key is required, since i override per module

  • Operating system:
    • MacOS Tahoe 26.2
  • SonarQube for IntelliJ plugin version:
    • 11.13.0.84156
  • IntelliJ version:
    • IntelliJ IDEA 2025.3.3 (Build #IU-253**.31033.145, built on February 20, 2026)**
  • Programming language you’re coding in:
    • Kotlin
  • Is connected mode used:
    • SonarQube Community Build (v26.2.0.119303)

Currently i am configuring the plugin in a project with mutli-module.
When i am configuring the plugin i am required to setup a global project key but i override them per module.
Why is this required since i override them per module?
I am not able to apply the configuration with an empty project key.
Is this a bug since in every module i configure, the plugin says it is bound to the authentication-service project.

Thanks in advance.

Hey @Flm, I apologize for the delayed response.

Your feedback is completely valid. Implementing this would likely require additional internal discussions and UX reviews, as it notably involves having both connected mode and standalone analysis coexist. I’ll initiate discussions around this, but I can’t promise it will be addressed immediately given our current priorities.

Thank you!
