some time ago we introduced a SonarCube in the community edition. At the moment this is enough for us because we don’t use it for many things; currently only for our C#/.Net development.
This works well, which is why we are now questioning if we should roll out SonarCube further. The next important languages would be Typscript (Angular) and PHP.
I don’t see any problems with Typscript, as we are always using a fairly up-to-date version.
But what about PHP? We’re using pretty old stuff there. Are older versions also supported? to be more precise: are there defaut rules for older versions? Is there a list of it? Didn´t find any.
When you ask about support for older versions of PHP, are you wondering about rules for specific features, or do you just want to know whether we’ll be able to even parse the files.
Because this is the sort of thing where - like in languages themselves - support gets added but not cleaned out (because there’s no reason to). We’ve been analyzing PHP for a very long time now. I’m pretty confident it’ll be properly parsed.
And since PHP is supported in Community Edition… why not just try it? The only thing you risk is a little bit of time.
Hi Ann,
If only things were that simple. We are a very traditional organization, nothing happens without an official internal request for change, but if it doesn’t work we may have brought it to the attention of the IT security team (which unfortunately is more a compliance team, than anything else)…
Well, what you’re writing sounds good, so I’ll give it a try.
If not all the rules that are possible nowerdays are active for our version, that’s still better than nothing.
