JetBrains Gateway compatibility

Hi,

Just checking to see if there are any plans for supporting SonarQube for IDE in IntelliJ using the JetBrains Gateway. Our project is using Remote Development and would really like to use the SonarQube plugin as we have in the past, but it is currently not supported using the Gateway.

Thanks,
Ben

  • JetBrains Gateway 2025.1

Hi @bpclaypool and sorry for the late answer,
Can you explain how it is not supported? You cannot install the plugin in the remote environment or you don’t see the issues raised?
We are currently investigating a similar topic and we’re happy to troubleshoot this with you.
Best regards,
Farah.

Hi Farah no worries, thanks for your reply.

The JetBrains Marketplace webpage for the SonarQube plugin shows: “Not compatible with the version of your running IDE (Gateway 2025.1, IntelliJ IDEA 2024.3.3)”.

I was able to manually install the plugin via ‘Install Plugin from Disk’. The plugin appears to be running fine, but none of the files are automatically scanned. When I click to Analyze Current File, I can see in the debug logs: “File ‘Foo.java’ excluded: file is not part of any module in IntelliJ’s project structure”.

Is there a workaround for this?

Thanks,
Ben

Hey @bpclaypool, unfortunately we have not enabled SonarQube for IDE on Gateway due to existing compatibility issues.

For now, I believe there’s no workaround possible to use our extension with Gateway. Please keep in mind that we are considering supporting Gateway and we are currently investigating solutions for these problems.

Thank you.
