Is cache necessary for gitlab cicd

Hello is defining a cache necessary for sonar scanner? I want to integrate sonar scanner job in an existing Gitlab cicd pipeline but for some reason the cache cannot be found. Please help

How do I add the gitlab ci content into existing pipelines
