Downgrade Sonar from Enterprise to Community Edition

Hi,
I am currently running sonarQube on Enterprise edition and we are planning to switch from Enterprise to Community Edition asap.
I am not sure about this process of changing the licenses to community edition.
My instance is hosted on Openshift 4.x
current version of Sonar - 9.9 (build 65466)

I have find one article in sonar : https://docs.sonarsource.com/sonarqube/latest/setup-and-upgrade/upgrade-the-server/upgrade-guide/#changing-your-edition and its suggesting to download community version and install.
My query is - can we install same version of enterprise version?
Can we use same DB for the new community version?
can we use same configuration files in community version from Enterprise version

Can some help me on this!

Hi,

Yes, you can downgrade. Simply set up a 9.9.3 Community Edition instance and point it at the same database you’ve been using for Enterprise Edition.

Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing why you’re downgrading?

Hi @ganncamp : Thanks for the clarification.
The decision to switch from SonarQube Enterprise Edition to the Community Edition was primarily driven by a combination of client requirements and budget constraints. We’ve reassessed our needs and decided to go for community edition.

i have one query, Is it possible to switch the version using a license key instead of installing new community installer. For example, can we change the license key from the Enterprise Edition to the Community Edition, similar to how it’s done with some other tools like Atlassian products?

Hi @ganncamp : Can you tell, what will happen to SonarQube when the Enterprise License expires? will it still keep running or change to community edition itself.
We wanted to do this test our-self’s but we are not able to remove the Enterprise license from the License manager page.

Hi Siva,

If it did that, then you could downgrade with just a license change :sweat_smile:

It will stop accepting new analyses.

You could update your license to an invalid (i.e. random) key.
