# Upgrade from 7.8 to 8.9.6 LTS

We are currently on Community Edition - Version 7.8 (build 26217) and long due for an upgrade.

Is there a migration path to follow if we want to upgrade to 8.9.6 LTS? Can we upgrade directly to 8.9.6 LTS?

Upgrade path is described [here](https://docs.sonarqube.org/latest/setup/before-you-upgrade/).  
7.8 → 7.9.6 ex-LTS → 8.9.6 (latest patch) LTS should be your path to follow.  
Read carefully the [notes](https://docs.sonarqube.org/latest/setup/lts-to-lts-upgrade-notes/) 🙂
