"There’s a new version of SonarQube Server available"

Must-share information (formatted with Markdown):

  • which versions: SonarQube server LTA 2026.1.3 (developer edition)
  • how is SonarQube deployed: Helm
  • what are you trying to achieve?
    • Only get new version warnings for LTA versions
  • what have you tried so far to achieve this
    • Look for an answer in community

On top of SonarQube there 's the warning “There’s a new version of SonarQube Server available. Update to the latest version to access new updates and features.”

We can easily close it, but ideally, we would only get a warning when there’s a new LTA version / patch available.

Is this configurable somewhere/somehow?

Hi,

This was initially designed to show a notification for LTA users only for new point versions and the first non-LTA update (because after the second one, you’re clearly on the LTA train) IIRC. But when we did the re-packaging a couple years ago we had to do some heavy lifting in the update center, and it sounds like this part went sideways.

To confirm before I escalate this, you’re seeing this warning now, even though you’re on the latest point release of the LTA?

Thx,
Ann

Hi Ann,

That’s indeed correct. The experience was like this:

  1. Upgraded to 2026.1.2 (latest LTA at that time, from 2025.1.3)
  2. (after some time) Saw warning new version was available. When showing more info it showed 2026.3 and 2026.1.3 were available.
  3. Upgraded to 2026.1.3
  4. Still saw the warning a new version was available. When showing more info it showed 2026.3 is available.
  5. Closed the warning

In our production instance (still on 2025.1.3) we see:

Hi,

Thanks for the confirmation and the screenshots. I’ve flagged this for the team because I don’t think you should be being spammed by these notifications. (Hopefully they agree with me.)

Thanks Ann!

This morning I saw there was an update again on our lab that is on the latest LTA (2026.1.3):

Hi @sbv

Thanks for the feedback! Indeed it might be noisy, especially with patch releases.
